# Selling scripts

> What you can sell on the spurdo! market as a scripter, how a script gets there, and where everything is.

The [market](https://spurdoverse.app/marketplace) sells scripts for spurdo! products. Any spurdo!
account can sell: there's no application and no "become an author" form. You publish with `spd`,
fill in the item's card on the site, and buyers pay from their site balance.

> [!NOTE]
>
> There's no upload button on the site. Every version comes from `spd publish` in your project
> folder: the server builds your sources and checks them. The site only holds the card: name,
> text, screenshots and price.

## What you can publish

> **Script**
>
> Runs in the cheat. Free, forever, or for 7, 30 or 90 days. Its code is private by default:
> buyers run it but can't read it.

> **Open script**
>
> A script with `"visibility": "public"`. Buyers can read its code, see what changed between
> versions and make their own version of it.

> **Library**
>
> Code other scripts import. Always free and open, installed with `spd add`, published under
> the spurdo! library license.

> **Branches**
>
> Every script and library has stable, beta and dev, each with its own version and changelog.

The details: [Publishing a script](/market/publish.md), [Libraries](/market/libraries.md).

## Before you start

* **A project made with `spd new`.** See [Getting started](/).
* **A confirmed email.** `spd login` and `spd publish` refuse without it. Confirm it in the account's
  security settings on the site.
* **Your own code.** Code you bought, or someone's open script whose author doesn't allow forks,
  can't be published as yours.
* **The rules.** Read the [author rules](https://spurdoverse.app/marketplace/rules?tab=authors)
once: what gets rejected, what discounts are allowed, how disputes work.

***

## How it goes

**1. Sign in**

`spd login` once per machine.

**2. Publish**

`spd publish` in the project folder. The first publish creates the item as a draft and prints
the link to its editor.

**3. Fill in the item**

Product, name, summary, description, tags, screenshots, price. See
[The item card](/market/item-card.md) and [Prices, discounts and grants](/market/pricing.md).

**4. Put it on the market**

**Send for review** in the editor. A version without `ffi` or `filesystem` permissions is
live as soon as the build passes; with them, a moderator looks first. See
[Publishing and moderation](/market/publishing.md).

**5. Keep it updated**

Each `spd publish` is a new version. Beta and dev branches, rollbacks and yanks are on
[Updates and branches](/market/versions.md).

## Where everything is

The author's pages are in the market's left column, under **For authors**:

| Page | |
| :- | :- |
| **Author dashboard** | Income, sales, views, conversion, refunds, and what needs your attention |
| **My items** | Every item you have: drafts, in review, published, rejected |
| **Grants** | Free access for testers, streamers, compensation |
| **Discounts & promo codes** | Running and scheduled discounts, your promo codes |
| **Income & payouts** | Hold, available income, withdrawals |
