Install an IDE

We recommend Visual Studio Code or WebStorm - the CLI configures the debugger, linter, and type definitions specifically for them. You’ll get autocompletion, inline errors, and one-click debugging out of the box. Also works great with Claude Code and other AI assistants - type definitions are set up automatically so vibe coding just works.

Install Node.js

If you want to write scripts in TypeScript (recommended), you’ll need Node.js installed. Download the LTS version and run the installer.
If you only plan to write plain JavaScript, Node.js is not required - but you’ll miss out on type checking, autocompletion, and the build pipeline.

Install Spurdo CLI

Open PowerShell and run:
Verify the installation:

Create a project

The CLI will ask you for:
  • Project name
  • Language - TypeScript or JavaScript
  • Linter - Biome, ESLint, or None
It automatically finds your C:\Spurdo\scripts\ folder, sets up type definitions, installs dependencies, and configures the debugger and linter.

Build & watch

Compiles your TypeScript project. Shows errors with file, line, and error code.

Lint

Runs the configured linter with auto-fix on src/.
