A config is a set of cheat settings from your Cloud. Nothing is uploaded by hand: you pick one of your Cloud configs as the item’s source, and every version is a snapshot of it at the moment you release. Configs aren’t reviewed by a person: once the automated checks pass, the item and each new version are live.
CS2 Inventory configs are skin loadouts and work a bit differently: see Selling CS2 Inventory loadouts.

Before you start

  • The config in your Cloud, for the product you’ll sell it for. It has to be yours: your own config or one gifted to you. A config you bought, or a copy of one, can’t be a source.
  • The rules. Read the author rules once.

Step 1: Create the item

Either way works:
  • In Cloud, open the config’s menu and press Publish on the market. The draft gets the config’s name and product, and the config is already its source.
  • In My items, press New item, pick Config and the product, then pick the source in Basics under Which Cloud config to publish.
The source can only be a config of the item’s product. You can switch to another one of your configs later: the next version is released from it.

Step 2: Fill in the card

Name, summary, description, tags and at least one screenshot, the same as for a script: see The item card. Price & access takes Free or Forever only: configs aren’t sold by term. A paid plan has to be at least the market’s minimum price, $0.50. See Prices, discounts and grants.

Step 3: Publish

Press Publish at the bottom of the editor. The server checks the name, the product, the plans and that there’s something to publish. If the item has no version yet, it releases 1.0.0 to stable from the source config right then. The automated checks on every version: When they pass, the item is in the catalog at once. If the button refuses, it says why, field by field: see When the button refuses. Moderators look at configs only after a report. A config that breaks the rules is taken down.

Release a new version

Edit the config in Cloud as usual: buyers don’t see those edits until you release them. When it’s ready, open Branches & versions in the editor and press Release a version: The version is live on its branch right away, and owners on that branch get it as an update. The number follows the same rules as scripts: semver, higher than the branch’s newest version, never used before in the item, no -beta suffix on stable.

Branches

Configs have the same three branches as scripts: Turn a branch on in Branches & versions before releasing to it. Turning it off moves its users back to stable. Buyers pick their branch in My purchases or in Cloud; testers get a closed branch through a grant.

Roll back and promote

  • Make current next to an older version of a branch rolls back to it. That makes a new version with the next number, the old content and the old changelog, marked “rollback to …”.
  • Move to stable takes a beta or dev version to stable with the same content. The number is the version without its suffix (1.5.0-beta.2 → 1.5.0) unless you pick another, higher than stable’s newest.
Neither goes through any review: the content was already checked when it was released.

What buyers get

A bought config shows up in the buyer’s Cloud under From the market and in the cheat. They can use it and change it, but not publish or share it. When you release a new version on their branch, they see the update:
  • without edits on their side, the copy just becomes the new version;
  • with edits, they choose to replace their edits with your version or keep them;
  • Restore brings their copy back to the version they’re on.
Configs are sold forever only, so a bought config doesn’t expire.

Configs from the old market

Configs sold on the old market were moved to the new one as drafts, with their versions, buyers and reviews. The editor and My items mark them Carried over from the old market (the From the old market filter in My items lists them).
  • They aren’t in the catalog until you publish them. Buyers keep their access meanwhile and see “The author has not released it in the new market yet”.
  • Check the description, the price and the screenshots, then press Publish. A price below $0.50 has to be raised first.
  • If the original Cloud config wasn’t found, pick any of your configs of that product as the source; without a product, pick it in Basics.
  • A draft with buyers can’t be deleted.
